Exciting Upcoming Opportunities

From its beginnings, the Center has received offers of volunteer service by persons anxious to help with the work of religious freedom. As the work of the Center has expanded to include many areas of the world, our opportunities for service have likewise expanded. With the newly enhanced capabilities of our websites and databases, opportunities exist for technical development projects, collaborating with members of the religious freedom communities in other countries, and monitoring and reporting on current events around the world. 16th Annual International Law and Religion Symposium, 4-6 October 2009

The Sixteenth Annual International Law and Religion Symposium, "Connecting Communities of Discourse: How the Judiciary, Academia, Government, and International Institutions Further the Work of Religious Freedom," will bring together leading experts - scholars, judges, and government and religious leaders - from more than 40 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, North and South America, and the Pacific to discuss challenges and successes in implementing principles of religious liberty. Keynote Addresses 2009: Anastasia Crickley and The Hon. Pius Nkonzo Langa

The Keynote speakers for this year's Symposium have devoted their careers to the cause of human rights. Anastasia Crickley, Chair of the European Union Fundamental Rights Agency, is Head of the Department of Applied Social Studies at National University of Ireland Maynooth, which plays a leading role in education and training for social justice and rights work. Pius Nkonzo Langa is just this month finishing his term as Chief Justice of the South Africa Constitutional Court.
