David & Kathryn Paxman
Image for David & Kathryn Paxman

David Paxman devotes much of his time working as a volunteer for the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint. In 2005, he and his wife, Kathryn, served a humanitarian mission for the LDS Church in Argentina. David served as associate dean of the College of Humanities at Brigham Young University. He taught English literature and writing at the University, with a special emphasis on British literature of the eighteenth century. He also taught at BYU Hawaii. He earned his bachelor’s in English at BYU and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. David was raised in Provo, Utah.

Kathryn Paxman is the daughter of Bill and Margaret Pope, longtime great supporters of the International Center for Law and Religion Studies. She and her husband, David, served a humanitarian mission in Argentina for the LDS Church; she also had the opportunity to serve as a volunteer in the LDS Perpetual Education Fund for three years.  Kathryn taught school for a few years, having received her bachelor’s degree at BYU in Special Education.  Kathryn had moved her family from California to Utah after her first husband had passed away to attend BYU. She loves children with special needs; her youngest child is a delightful Down syndrome girl. Kathryn loves being the mother of a large blended family of 10 children and 36 grandchildren
