S. David Colton – United States
Chair, International Advisory Council, International Center for Law and Religion Studies, J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University

David Colton is currently a student coach at the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University as well as Chair of the International Advisory Council of the International Center for Law and Religion Studies (ICLRS). He is assisting with several initiatives with ICLRS. He and his wife, Julie, recently served as Government Relations missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints assigned to the United Nations in New York, City.  David also worked as Europe Area Legal Counsel for the Church. He retired as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Frreport-McMoran Copper & Gold Company (formerly Phelps Dodge). He was a partner at Van Cott, Bagley, Cornwall & McCarthy. He earned a JD from BYU's J. Reuben Clark Law School. He has been an active part of ICLRS since its formation. 

Adam Durfee – United States
Director, Y Digital, Brigham Young University

Adam Durfee is the founder and managing director of the Y Digital Agency and a professor of social and digital media at Brigham Young University. Through his work, Adam helps students apply social and digital media skills to campaigns for some of the world’s biggest brands. In 2016, Adam was named the youngest member of the Forbes Communications council and in 2019, was named “Social Media Innovator of the Year” by PR News and Social Media Today. Adam works privately as a digital media consultant and his list of work includes campaigns with the NBA, Disney, Pepsi and HGTV.

Abdullah Hassan – United States
JD Candidate 2020, J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University

Abdullah Hassan is a graduate of Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He recently finished his second year at the J. Reuben Clark Law School. Abdullah was a summer research fellow in Frankfurt, Germany for the International Center for Law and Religion Studies (ICLRS) and also served on the 2018-2019 ICLRS Student Management Board. In his spare time, Abdullah is a big fan of the premier league and enjoys watching the Tottenham Hotspurs and NBA basketball. 

Mary O. Jensen – United States
Legal Writing Faculty, J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University

Professor Jensen has been teaching legal writing at the J. Reuben Clark Law School for over twenty years, and also teaches online courses at the University of Tulsa College of Law and Concord Law School where she has designed course curricula. She has published in law journals and lectured and presented at legal writing conferences.  She maintains an active private practice and writes fiction (under pseudonyms) when there’s time.

Hannah Leavitt-Howell – United States
JD Candidate 2021, J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University

Hannah Leavitt-Howell is a second year law student at the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU. She is interested in environmental and Federal Indian law. Hannah graduated magna cum laude from BYU in 2018 with a BA in art history. She spent much of her undergraduate studying cultural themes in the art of culturally repressed people. Hannah and her husband, Parker, enjoy running, reading, and going to art museums. This summer Hannah ran her first marathon. Her favorite read this year is The Moment of Lift by Melinda Gates.

Hannah Ruf – United States
Post Production Manager, Y Digital, Brigham Young University

Hannah Ruf is a student at Brigham Young University studying advertising in the School of Communications. Hannah has worked as a video editor and colorist for BYU’s international television broadcasting network, BYUtv, for three years. As of May, she also began working as the Post Production Manager at a digital marketing agency in the School of Communications called Y Digital. After graduating she has plans to develop her own film production company

Blythe Shupe – United States
Communications Specialist, International Center for Law and Religion Studies

Blythe Shupe joined the International Center for Law and Religion Studies in September 2015 as a communications specialist. She spent the previous ten years as an account manager in the world of pre-employment screening working for Sterling Infosystems and LexisNexis. In this position, she worked closely with Human Resources, Compliance Departments, and Security Departments of large companies setting up and monitoring background screening programs for new hires to ensure the client was hiring the best possible candidate while operating within federal, state, and local laws. She specialized in the complicated screening practices surrounding healthcare, financial firms, and aviation. Prior to that, she spent nine years in various roles at WordPerfect Corporation. Blythe earned her bachelor's degree in Comparative Literature from Brigham Young University.

Jane Wise – United States
Associate Director, International Center for Law and Religion Studies, J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University

Professor Wise started teaching legal writing at BYU Law School twenty years ago and has taught legal writing in online programs at the University of Tulsa College of Law and Concord Law. She has developed curricula for the American legal academy including materials for English as a–second-language law students. She has written essays for nationally syndicated radio programs, newspapers, magazines, as well as screenplays; edited books; contributed chapters to books; has written for and lectured at legal writing conferences. She has also edited print publications at BYU Law School for the past fifteen years.  Currently, she is an associate director for the International Center for Law and Religion Studies. She researches and teaches about law and literature and storytelling in the law. She writes for textbooks and in law journals and is a presenter at legal writing conferences. Wise holds BA/BFA and JD degrees from the University of Utah. Prior to entering academia, she clerked for the Utah Supreme Court and maintained a general practice of law.
